Our Team

Professor Christina was awarded her black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) in 2012 and obtained her first degree on her black belt in 2016.  She is the head instructor of Brazil021 Winnipeg School of Jiu-jitsu and is a registered Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt under the International Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Federation (IBJJF) under 2nd degree black belt Professor Misty Shearer out of Brazil021 Edmonton, who is under 4th degree black belt and 9x world champion Professor Hannette Staack and Andre Terenico out of Brazil021 Headquarters, Chicago.

She is an active competitor in BJJ and in her most recent competition won two bronze medals at The World Masters Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Championships in 2017, in her weight class and in the absolute division.  She competes in BJJ to share her experiences as a coach with her students.  She has a true passion for teaching and helping her students grow and develop, in jiu-jitsu and in life.  She has also organized and run local BJJ tournaments for over a decade.

Christina also specializes in teaching women's self-defense because she feels that it is important to show that BJJ is meant for a smaller person to handle unexpected aggression from a much larger attacker.  She has experience working with many community organizations and has helped women who have been victims of domestic violence re-establish confidence and self-esteem.
